Our history

Started by farmers, owned by members

Nyakayojo SACCO was formed in 2001 by a group of people, most of them farmers, who had the social and economic development skills to empower marginalised people in Nyakayojo sub-county.

It was fully registered under the cooperative statute on 27 July 2004 (registration certificate no. 7093/RCS) and has grown into a tier 4 microfinance institution that is owned, controlled and governed by its members.

Our headquarters sit 7 km from Mbarara town along the Mbarara–Kabale road, next to the Nyakayojo Division headquarters. From there, eight branches bring savings, loans and mobile banking within reach of more than 20,000 members.
